The Intertraffic exhibition will take place between April 5th and 8th in RAI Amsterdam. Simacan will demonstrate the state of the art in combining traffic data in ways that lead towards a driverless future. You can find us at the Dutch Pavilion, booth 09.308, and in the Smart Mobility theatre programme.

Intertraffic offers an extensive knowledge programme. Simacan presents:
Why it is NOT about the self-driving car
Speakers: Rob Schuurbiers and Felix Faassen (Simacan)
Thursday April 7th, 15:45 – 16:30 hours, Smart Mobility Theatre
The future of automated driving is not only about the development of in-car technology. Innovations in environment recognition are just a first step. What will ultimately fuel self-driving cars is data. The real challenge: making data available and usable on a large scale in a cost-effective way. Come see our live demonstrations of how such data sources are successfully accessed for primary business processes today.
Speakers: Eric van Huissteden (Regio Groningen-Assen) and Rob Schuurbiers (Simacan)
Wednesday April 6th, 14:00 – 14:45 hours, Smart Mobility Theatre
By sharing data, the government and the market can work together to find solutions to traffic logistical bottlenecks, accessibility and quality of life. To this end, we will launch a unique project: Supermarket Logistics in which we will provide a data sharing model that makes it possible for shippers, transport providers and governments to share data. This ‘OpenTripModel’ is to become a licence-free and easy to use data model for a web-based exchange of real-time logistical and traffic data by shippers, transport providers, service providers and governments. The OpenTripModel is open to everyone to be used, improved upon and enhanced. For example, severely delayed journeys and inefficient use of loading and unloading sites can be prevented in the future and there is the prospect that lorry drivers will receive real-time information regarding the best possible route.
This project is an innovative collaboration between the market and the government: Simacan is developing the OpenTripModel. It will first be tested in Amsterdam, Utrecht, Groningen and Assen; together with the largest supermarket chain in the Netherlands – Ahold – the possibility of optimisation will be considered.
