Ahold Delhaize has a text message service for the home delivery of their groceries. The arrival times are being calculated with real-time information by Simacan.
First retailer with arrival time service
The new service gives customers the freedom to plan their time. It makes home delivery of online orders by Albert Heijn Online even more convenient. Ahold Delhaize is the first retailer in the Netherlands with this initiative.
Based on current traffic
From now on, Ahold Delhaize informs their customers what time they can expect their groceries at their door. In the morning, the customer can view the arrival time online, based on the planning and the current traffic situation. This time is tracked with precision and adjusted when needed.
The arrival time is calculated with real-time information and takes into account traffic on the route. Half an hour before the driver arrives, the customer receives a text message with an accurate 15-minute time window.
“At Albert Heijn, we strive towards a continuous improvement of our service. Ordering groceries online became easier. Customers know exactly what time they should be home. They no longer have to wait for the delivery man. Now they can tune their daily activities even better with the delivery of their groceries.”
Coen Schlüter, Senior Manager Delivery & PickUpPoint at Ahold Delhaize
“This solution not only provides advantages for Ahold Delhaize customers. The delivery drivers are also relieved from stress about traffic. And planners can be proactive in case of delays, thanks to digital replanning via Simacan Control Tower.”
Martijn Loot, Chief Product Officer at Simacan
