Welcome Sebastiaan, Simacan's first recruiter
Hi Sebastiaan, welcome to Simacan! What will you be doing at Simacan and what are you looking forward to?
Simacan is growing fast. To be able to continue growing at this pace, I started last week as an interim recruiter. This means that, in the upcoming months, I will be busy with setting up a sustainable recruitment process and also with finding, engaging and enthusing new talent for Simacan. Or rather, future ‘Simacanners’. I am already looking forward to telling people about Simacan!
Where did your working life start?
At the age of 13, I started my first part-time job. From that age it was officially allowed. I loved the thought of earning my own money. My official real job was at the Ministry of the Interior. I worked there for three years in facility management and saw practically every department from the inside. After that, I came into contact with recruitment. In the past 6.5 years, I have helped several national and international start-ups and scale-ups with recruitment. At the same time, I studied sports and later completed a bachelor's degree in commercial economics. In the fall of 2021, I will start with a master's degree in psychology.
How was your first impression of Simacan, even though you didn’t have a chance to meet all your new colleagues in real life?
Prior to my first interview, I went on a research trip to get to know Simacan better. The look of the website, the videos about the platform and the employees were very positive. This club has ambition, I thought. Nothing turned out to be less true. In the first week, I met everyone digitally and was received with great enthusiasm. I was immediately part of the team and the Simacan sweater I received is worn intensively!
Would you like to tell us a bit about yourself?
Many people ask me what I like about recruitment. I am happy to share the answer with you. Actually, it is very simple. Every day I am in contact with people and for a period of time, I get to be the ambassador of an organization. It gives me a lot of energy to share the enthusiasm I experience in a company with potential talent. It is an extra challenge for me to convince them of the opportunities that I can offer them, especially if they do not yet know of your existence. If those people say afterward that they are much more at home now, I have done my job well.
Furthermore, you can always approach me to participate in sporting activities. I have lots of energy and I need to get it out! Whether it's on a mountain bike, a tough boot camp session, or a game of golf. Count me in!
