Your future at Simacan
Simacan helps organizations in the transport and logistics sector to digitize their delivery processes. Through a complex cloud-based platform, millions of Dutch citizens experience the benefits of this digitization every day. As our Scala backend developer you will participate in the design and build of unique solutions that contribute to a more efficient supply chain.
The team you will become part of, Product Engineering, consists of about 30 enthusiastic engineers who work together in smaller development teams based on Scrum. We do this in an environment that revolves around TDD and CI/CD. Together we work on various projects focused on our cloud platform. These projects include designing and developing APIs, improving our existing algorithms (such as routing or travel time calculation) and designing and developing new, unique features that help customers use our platform even better. These features relate to tangible subjects like delivery, route calculation, travel times and traffic jams.
Within Simacan we have chosen Scala as our backend programming language. It is not the only language we use, but it is our first choice because of its robustness and interoperability. We are also an innovative team that likes to work with modern technologies, like Akka, Cats, ZIO and Kafka.
Simacan is a young and innovative scale-up, based in Amersfoort. A growing organization with over 75 employees. Millions of people experience the benefits of our platform on a daily basis. Our platform integrates real-time traffic information into the primary business processes of our customers. In this way we help companies such as Albert Heijn, Jumbo, Simon Loos, NedCargo, Cornelissen and PostNL to optimize their logistics processes.
